Vinilica vol. 61 – Maiole

Emanuele D'Angelo · 5 months ago · Music

Maiole calls music a “you”: he challenges it, searches for it, disassembles and reassembles it, first designing dreamy and abstract electronic architectures and then taking them to pop territories with lightness, grace and lucid unconsciousness.
Maiole is the project of Marco Maiole, born in 1995, on June 30th his new single “Persino gli alieni” was released.

“Persino agli alieni” marks the return on the scene of the artist from Caserta two years after “Cose Pese“, the record that has consecrated him as a hybrid producer. Started with a purely electronic approach in his debut Music for Europe, with Cose Pese Maiole he mixed with pop, shaping a fresh, modern and rhythmic sound. The fil rouge? The approach to the melody reasoned but never serious.

Today, at the age of 25, the artist from Campania not only presents himself as one of the most eclectic figures of Italian music, but continues to mix with other worlds.

As always exclusively for Collater.al Mag he has created for you a playlist with all his musical influences.

These are the tracks that I would like the algorithm to suggest to me after listening Persino agli alieni <3

After the single “Wash Us In The Blood“, released last week with Travis Scot, the American rapper Kanye West in the running for American presidential election has released a new song “Donda” dedicated to his mother.

Donda, named after his late mother, was released on July 12, the day that would have been the woman’s birthday.
In the new song you can also hear her voice reciting the words of the single Sound Of Da Police by KRS-One from 1993.

After two years of waiting, Rejjie Snow is back

After two years of waiting, Rejjie Snow is back

Emanuele D'Angelo · 4 months ago · Music

In 2018, Rejjie Snow had definitely made us fall in love with him with “Dear Annie“, an explosion of colorful jazz and soul that will certainly remain in the annals of music.

The Irish rapper is now back two years later with “Cookie Chips“, in collaboration with none other than MF Doom, the masked rapper who is seen as the godfather of abstract hip-hop.

On his Instagram Rejjie Snow lets us know that this is not the only single with MF Doom, but that in 2020 there will also be an album of these two gentlemen. A release date has not yet been set.

Who knows what he has in store for us, it is not yet known, but the premises are as always excellent.

Vinilica vol. 62 – HÅN

Vinilica vol. 62 – HÅN

Emanuele D'Angelo · 4 months ago · Music

Today we will talk about HÅN, a singer-songwriter who grew up in a small Italian town near Lake Garda.
Today sees the release of “Gradients“, the new EP of HÅN, six tracks that, through different angles and perspectives, investigate the world of human relationships, told in all their articulations: love, friendship, power ties, relationship with oneself.

At the heart of the EP is the awareness that there is a space between things and people that cannot be penetrated. As much as a relationship can be symbiotic, it can ideally be lived without veils, limits or barriers, there will always exist indecipherable nuances, which concern individuality, and which remain intact in the encounter of two people. The task and the wish that HÅN gives to herself and to those who listen to her is to accept them and not to spend life trying to fill the gaps that separate us.

The production of the songs is entirely edited by the Italian artist, continuing the refined and dreamy style and aesthetics of his early works: a whispered voice that relies on a minimalist and sophisticated electronic production.

A sweet and refined EP, six tracks to listen to all with a lot of calm.
As always, exclusively for Collater.al Mag, HÅN created his playlist with his influences inside.

“Summer is mating season (I guess it was spring but whatever) so this playlist is perfect for your summer crush. Contrary to my usual, just happy mood, more or less.
Inside you can find songs from Battisti to Caroline Polachek and from English to French, because love is universal”.

Open Sound Festival launches a call for music producers

Open Sound Festival launches a call for music producers

Emanuele D'Angelo · 4 months ago · Music

Open Sound Festival starts from the encounter between contemporary electronic music and ancestral sounds and, in line with its identity, launches #OSA 2020, the call in collaboration with Sugar Music open to producers who want to experiment and “dare” to co-create new sound visions inspired by the concept of the remote future.

The challenge consists in giving new life to ancient sounds in an electronic key by creating a new track from a repertoire of open source, non-proprietary sounds belonging to the ancient Lucanian heritage (arbëreshë polyphonic choirs, bagpipes, cowbells, dark dark).

These cataloged sounds are collected in the Open Sound Library (#OSL), developed during the experience of Matera European Capital of Culture 2019.

The jury of the paleo-futurist festival, led by Alioscia Bisceglia, Open Sound Festival’s Artistic Director, will select 9 candidates, who will have access to the first phase. Among the 9, the 3 producers considered most suitable to continue in the next stages of co-creation, and co-production of a final suite alongside the guest producers 2020 will be chosen: Clap!Clap!, Yakamoto Kotzuga and Stabber.

The OSA Suite, final performance of Open Sound Festival will be presented live in September, in the suggestive setting of the Terrace of Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.

The international call is open to all young people from 18 to 35 years old, if you are one of them and you want to put your composition on the line by August 2nd HERE and cross your fingers!
