Mad Dog Jones’s illustrations with a cyberpunk style

Claudia Fuggetti · 2 years ago · Design

Mad Dog Jones, this is the Instagram profile name of this incredible artist from Toronto who makes illustrations in a perfect cyberpunk style. The city is one of the backgrounds and recurring subjects in his works, a city very similar to that proposed in the two films by Blade Runner. The holographic projections of female subjects, more cyborgs than real women, are very reminiscent of a famous scene from the recent film chapter Blade Runner 2049 directed by Denis Villeneuve, in 2017.

Le illustrazioni di Mad Dog Jones ti portano nel futuro | Collater.al

The tram, sports cars, purple color, and fuchsia transport us into a reality that is not so far from ours, made of neon dreams. This artist makes us think of Beeple Crap, of which we had previously spoken here, with a different poetics which makes feel someone who looks at his work halfway between cyber and human worlds.

Dagsturhytter, the Norwegian refuge built like a puzzle

Dagsturhytter, the Norwegian refuge built like a puzzle

Giulia Guido · 2 years ago · Design

The project of the Dagsturhytte was born from the collaboration of several entities: the Norwegian association of trekking, the studio SPINN arkitekter and the engineers of FORMAT, and from the desire to stimulate tourism in the Norwegian area of Hammerfest, the northernmost city in the world.

The project involved the construction of two cabins, two shelters that, in addition to being designed and totally in harmony with the surrounding unspoiled landscape, was the perfect place to rest after a long walk. The aesthetics of the mountain huts are inspired by the shapes and beauty of nature and fit perfectly into the ground as if they were giant stones. The shape and materials used are designed to confuse the structure in the landscape and produce the least visual pollution possible.

From an architectural point of view, the two shelters are a real gem. The project was carried out by SPINN arkitekter, the parts of the structure were then produced by FORMAT engineers and finally, the 77 wooden panels were assembled as if they were real pieces of a puzzle. Sitting inside you can enjoy a warm and comfortable place to have your own packed lunch, rest and converse and admire the landscape visible from the large window overlooking the fjords.

Discover the beauty of the Dagsturhytter in our gallery and in the video.

The Girl with a Pearl Earrings and Mona Lisa models in Paste in Place’s collages

The Girl with a Pearl Earrings and Mona Lisa models in Paste in Place’s collages

Giulia Guido · 2 years ago · Design

Rodrigo Pinheiro is the graphic designer who founded Paste in Place, a creative studio specialized in the creation of digital collages. If you visit the Instagram profile @pasteinplace_ you will find yourself in a surreal world.

The digital artworks that you will discover manage to mix two worlds that are totally different, both temporally and thematically. The first is that of classical art, so the Botticelli, Leonardo, Van Gogh, and many others one. The second is the most contemporary of fashion and streetwear.

The brilliant idea of Paste in Place’s creatives is to change the faces of models with those of the greatest protagonists of paintings and frescoes. So we find a perfect hipster style Van Gogh having a coffee in a bar and the Girl with the Pearl Earring and the Mona Lisa taking a picture in the street.

Terminus, a Parisian restaurant that will born from an abandoned metro station

Terminus, a Parisian restaurant that will born from an abandoned metro station

Claudia Fuggetti · 2 years ago · Design

The city of Paris has dealt with the theme of abandoned underground stations rehabilitation, welcoming numerous creative solutions including those of the former candidate for mayor Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet. There has been talking of swimming pools, clubs and many more because it seems that the available space is about fourteen ex stations.

Lastly, Terminus‘s proposal was accepted: a restaurant that will retrain the Red Cross station, former terminus of line 10 between Sèvres-Babylone and Mabillon. The project is the winner of the competition launched by Anne Hidalgo, Réinventer Paris 2 and should be released in 2021.

Wonder Galaxy, futuristic interiors by Patricia Bustos

Wonder Galaxy, futuristic interiors by Patricia Bustos

Claudia Fuggetti · 2 years ago · Design

Wonder Galaxy is a journey into the future that explores the realm of fantasy, that kind of imagination that belongs to the world of children. The artist who designed the project for Casa Decor 2019 in Madrid, is Spanish designer Patricia Bustos and, through her dressing room, wants us to relive childhood to explain that becoming adults isn’t a limit, but only a new way of explaining our creativity.

The entire structure is characterized by bright colors such as pink and purple that contribute to transmitting “the creative energy from childhood”. Probably this aesthetic was inspired by one of the ’60s and’ 70s as if it had come out of an Austin Powers’s movie: paradoxically we can say that it is a future with a vintage soul. The play of asymmetric strings and volumes gives us a feeling of infinite depth, expanding the space.

Visit Patricia’s site, while in the gallery below you will find one of her most famous works of 2018, The Kitchen, which has been very successful.
