The Californian brand Girls Skateboards dedicated a collection to the legendary Beastie Boys and director Spike Jonze, Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay for “Her” in 2014, on the occasion of the release of the homonymous book “Beastie Boys Spike Jonze” for Rizzoli New York, written by Jonze himself together with Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz and the docu-film “Beastie Boys Story” directed by the American director.
The Beastie Boys Spike Jonze capsule collection by Girls Skateboards includes decks, hoodies and T-shirts. All pieces in this collection feature photographic prints depicting the most important moments in the New York rap band’s career, such as the cover of “The Sound of Science”, the fake mustache from the “Sabotage” music video or old photos taken at the time of “Check Your Head”, the Beastie Boys’ third album in 1992.
The Beastie Boys represented fun, talent and experimentation, words that we can also perfectly associate with Spike Jonze and that are reflected in the works of the native director of Rockville, Maryland.
To deepen this connection you can buy the book “Beastie Boys Spike Jonze” and watch “Beastie Boys Story” on Apple TV+.
