Ariel Sun’s digital and minimalist illustrations

Giulia Guido · 3 months ago · Art

Ariel Sun is a New York based Chinese designer and artist who creates minimal and hyper-coloured digital illustrations.

Ariel is a self-taught artist, she has never attended art classes or schools, this allowed her to develop a personal style, based only on her taste, and to work only on her favorite subjects.

Over the years, what began as a pastime, a way to give vent to her creativity, has become a work that has led Ariel Sun to collaborate with different brands and clients.

Unlike many of her colleagues, Ariel works completely digitally, from the sketch to the last finishing touches, often being inspired by what she sees, from her travels, at other times by photographs. The strong contrasts, which give life to plays of light and shadow, and a palette of bright and full colors are balanced by a minimalist style, made of a few lines and even fewer elements, giving the final result a relaxing and peaceful.

We have selected only some of Ariel Sun’s works, but to discover them all and not to miss the next ones follow her on Instagram and visit her website

M&C Saatchi’s commercial for Promote Iceland inspired by scream therapy

M&C Saatchi’s commercial for Promote Iceland inspired by scream therapy

Giulia Pacciardi · 3 months ago · Art

Filmed during the lockdown period, one of the most stressful and frustrating moments we’ve experienced in recent years, the first campaign by advertising agency M&C Saatchi London for Promote Iceland is an invitation to let all the weight we feel inside out of our bodies.

It’s called Let it out and it’s inspired by scream therapy, a therapeutic tool developed in the 70s to help people get rid of repressed emotions by removing accumulated stress.

If you don’t think it works, you can try it by going to the “Looks like you need to Let It Out” website, recording your scream and letting it spread through speakers located in seven locations in Iceland including Festarfjall, on the Reykjanes peninsula, Djúpivogur, to the east, and Skógafoss waterfall to the south.

While you’re waiting to reclaim your travels and your planet, send your voice to the place that you think should be the first to welcome you.

The new LEGO set dedicated to Nintendo

The new LEGO set dedicated to Nintendo

Giulia Guido · 3 months ago · Art

Are you a big fan of vintage video games? Do you remember the old Nintendo systems and the very first Super Mario games with nostalgia? LEGO comes to your aid with a brand new set dedicated to Nintendo and the Nintendo Entertainment System.

From August 1st, with 2,646 coloured bricks, you can build a very detailed reproduction of the NES system. In fact, in addition to the console, the set will include an opening slot for the Game Pak, a controller, a retro-style TV with a sliding screen that plays a level of the classic Super Mario Bros. and a multifunctional brick that can be connected to the TV and interact with enemies and obstacles.

With its vintage style and small size – the TV measures 22.5×23.5x16cm – the LEGO NES turns into a true collector’s item that can be displayed anywhere in the house.

With the Nintendo Entertainment System, LEGO continues to produce sets designed primarily for adults, in this case helping them to take a step back in time, reminiscent of the video games they played when they were kids.

Find out all the details of the set here and visit the site to find out about all the upcoming LEGO releases.

Postcards from airports by Mateusz Napieralski

Emanuele D'Angelo · 3 months ago · Art

“Although we still can’t travel that freely because of the pandemic, maybe traveling through pixels is the best thing right now.”

Mateusz Napieralski, Polish illustrator, art director and animator is helping us to imagine some of his favorite destinations in his Airport Postcards. The lively illustrations are inspired by previous trips and he reflects on them as he sits in the airports, waiting for his return flight.

At a time when flights are still limited, Mateusz Napieralski with his pencil and his playful, bold and colorful shapes transports us to the cities he loves most.

From Oslo to Vancouver to Barcelona, the illustrator’s postcards will make you travel with your imagination.

A new playground dedicated to Kobe Bryant is born in Matera

A new playground dedicated to Kobe Bryant is born in Matera

Emanuele D'Angelo · 3 months ago · Art

In Basilicata, precisely in Matera, a new and colorful playground dedicated to the famous basketball player Kobe Bryant has just been realized.
Part of the larger project to restore the gardens and areas near the school, the new basketball court features the stylized figure of the American champion, who tragically died on January 26th due to a plane crash.

An immense void, that left by the sportsman, that the students have tried to fill with this work created thanks to Marica Montemurro, Gianni Papapietro and Luca Bia – members of #TeamArt, called to evoke on the surface of the field the drawings and ideas of the youngest.

An initiative born after the lockdown, the Istituto Comprensivo G. Pascoli of Matera, has totally redeveloped the Olimpia Playground Kobe Bryant basketball court: an open-air sports facility abandoned for years, taken away from degradation and finally returned to the community thanks to the collaboration between teachers, students, and artists of the area.
